It was a strong weekend for the Georgia IronDawgs, as they traveled to Peoria, Illinois to take part in the APC National Powerlifting and Bench Press Championships.

All of the team members that made the trip came home with the gold and came home with the 2009 team title.

The town of Jefferson was well represented over the course of the three days. Brian Collins got almost 364 lbs. to win the Master’s Men’s 40-44 year old Bench class, while Michael Rubio took the Open title at 100 kg. with a bench of almost 601 lbs. [Full Story »] 

Oakwood’s R. Garry Glenn, a four-time national and two-time world bench press champion in his age and weight category has been named “Powerlifter of the Month” by irondawg.com.

“This is indeed an honor,” Glenn said. “I’ve had a great year in my sport; and this is just more frosting on the cup cakes. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported, encouraged, and prayed for me through some tough personal times. It’s all very humbling.” [Full Story »] 

A slew of world records, three gold medals, and two Best Lifter plaques - it happened at the American Powerlifting Committee (APC) National Championships in Norfolk, Virginia for three weightlifters.

Jackson County native, Garry Glenn won his third APC National Championship and his fourth overall in the men’s 50-54 year old age class, but his first at a bodyweight of 82.5 kilos (181.8795 lbs.) after earlier claiming titles in 2004 and 2007 at 90K (198.414 lbs.). [Full Story »]
