Commerce Tennis Teams Prepare For Lakeview Thurs.

Commerce tennis teams have a tough match ahead against Lakeview.

Lakeview is the fourth opponent the Commerce tennis teams have met on the court.

Commerce played Banks County, Tuesday, in Homer. Results from the match were unavailable at press time.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers will face Lakeview tomorrow (Thursday) on the road at 4:00 p.m.

Coach Chad Bridges said that Lakeview will be tough as the teams are one of the best.

Next Monday, Commerce faces Tallulah Falls in the second match up between the schools. The match starts at 4:00 p.m. at Tallulah Falls.

The Jefferson Dragons tennis teams continued their impressive start to the 2009 season this week with wins over defending region 8-AA champ North Oconee and over Franklin County.

Up next for Jefferson is a trip to Banks County to face the Leopards on Thursday.

Eagles Drop Opener To Banks

East Jackson’s tennis season got off to a rough start last Thursday as the Eagles dropped both boys’ and girls’ matches to Banks County.

The boys lost 4-1, while the girls were shut out 5-0.

For the boys, their lone win came from the number one doubles team of Tommy Ramsey and Tsin Nuy Ly.

In a rematch on Monday, East Jackson hosted Banks County, and this time the boys came away with a 4-1 win.

John Kesler won at number two singles, as did Tony Johnson at number three singles. [Full Story »]

JCCHS tennis set to start Thurs.

The JCCHS tennis teams were scheduled to start their season on Friday against Winder Barrow.

But rainy conditions kept the teams off the court, and pushed the start of the season for Jackson County to this week.

The 2009 schedule will now begin on Thursday, as Jackson County will play host to East Side. They will then travel to Hart County on March 10, then host Franklin County on March 17 before traveling to Stephens County on March 19. [Full Story »] 

Jefferson defeats Lakeview Academy

The Jefferson tennis teams continued their early strong showing, as both improved their records to 2-0 with victories over Lakeview Academy last week.

For the boys, they defeated Lakeview 6-1. Zach Bost won 6-1 and 6-4 at number one in singles, while Chase Lindsay won 6-0 and 6-3 at number three.

The number one doubles team of Matt Buchanan and Aaron Martin won 4-6, 6-1 and 6-0, while the number two team of Trevor Castellaw and Stephen Chambers won 6-3, 6-7 and 6-1. [Full Story »]
