The Winder-Barrow High School Lady Bulldogg tennis team defeated Jackson County 3-2 last week.

Jessie Speight fell in a close match at No. 1 singles. Coach Heather Lundy said her top singles player is going to have numerous tough matches this spring but believes Speight is ready for it.

Kaitlynn Gordon took an 8-0 win at No. 2 singles and is now 3-0 for the early portion of 2011. [Full Story »]

Success has been enjoyed by the Winder-Barrow High School Lady Bulldogg tennis team this spring, yet coach Heather Lundy knows even more can be accomplished by her players.

A 5-0 blanking of county and subregion rival Apalachee High School last Thursday was the seventh overall win of 2010 for WBHS, who is also 4-1 in region play. [Full Story »]

Rain washed out matches last week for the Jackson County tennis teams.

Both the boys and girls teams were scheduled to host Archer last Thursday. Both of those were postponed. There’s been no word on rescheduled dates.

Jackson County was next scheduled to travel to Franklin County on Tuesday. [Full Story »] 

Jefferson netters sweep Hart County

Jefferson made a clean sweep of Hart County on the road Monday, with both the boys and the girls winning 5-0.

For the girls, Bell Blankenship won at number one singles with set scores of 6-2, 6-3. Maggie Broome won at number two singles with set scores of 6-1, 6-1. Miranda McGarity won at number three singles with set scores of 6-0, 6-1. [Full Story »]

The Jackson County tennis teams were on the road last week.

The Lady Panthers ran into problems against Oconee County at Watkinsville, as the Lady Warriors swept Jackson County 5-0.

The Jefferson tennis teams are now 2-0 after both teams defeated Elbert County last Wednesday.

The boys defeated the Blue Devils 5-0. Zach Bost won 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles. Blair Buffington won 6-0, 6-0 at number two. Ben Daniels won 6-0, 6-1 at number three.

The Jefferson boys and girls netters opened their 2010 campaigns with two wins, as both teams defeated Franklin County last week.

The boys’ team swept Franklin 5-0, with singles wins from Zach Bost, 6-0, 6-1, Blair Buffington, 6-0, 6-1 and Ben Daniels 6-0, 6-0.

On the doubles side, Matt Buchanan and Aaron Martin won 6-1, 6-0, while Trevor Castellaw and Sky Porter won 6-0, 6-0. [Full Story »] 

Lady Dragons’ season ends with loss to Spartans

The Jefferson girls’ tennis team saw their 2009 season come to a close as they lost 3-0 to the number five ranked Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans in round two of state playoff action last week.

Greater Atlanta Christian is the defending AA state champions.

Following their win over Jefferson, GAC went on to defeat Calhoun, and will face Screven County in the semi-finals. [Full Story »]
