JCCHS girls tie, boys lose to Hebron

It was a mixed bag last week for the JCCHS soccer teams, as the girls recorded a tie, while the boys’ team suffered a loss.

Both teams are next scheduled to travel to Franklin County to face the Lions. The girls are slated to begin at 5:30 p.m., with the boys’ game set to follow at 7:30 p.m.

The Jackson County boys and girls soccer teams got their seasons underway Monday night, as they played host to Social Circle.

The Lady Panthers came away with an 8-0 win. Amelia Thompson, Mary Collin, Sydney Kaster, Ka Xiong, Jeanette Gee, Lexi Miller, Naly Thao and Kristina Galbauch each scored goals, while Dana Burzo earned an honorable mention on defense. [Full Story »]

A step up in classification could present somewhat of a challenge for the Apalachee High School girls soccer team in 2009.

Coach Scott Bates said the outlook for the new season is positive overall although the move to Class AAAA could make it a little more daunting. [Full Story »]

The first annual East Jackson Soccer camp was held last week at the EJCHS soccer fields, as well as in the high school gymnasium.

Soccer tryouts begin May 27

Athena, Academy, and Classic select team try-outs will begin this month and continue in June. The under 11 Girls team coached by Gregg Tullis will hold try-outs on May 27 and May 28 at 6:00pm at Westside Middle.

BYSA to hold fall soccer registration

The Barrow Youth Soccer Association will be holding fall soccer registration on May 31, July 19 and July 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Barrow County Leisure Services building located at 175 Second Street in Winder.

Registration packets are available for download at www.barrowsoccer.com.

Uniform sizing will be done at the time of registration; sample uniforms will be available for fittings.
