The votes are in, and three racers from Banks and Habersham County are among the “Elite Eight” to be inducted into the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame.

Three veteran racecar drivers with local ties have been named among the 15 semi-finalists for the 2009 class for the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame.

Buck Simmons, Tommie Irvin and Katron Sosebee are among the semi-finalists. The final group of eight that will make up the 2009 class will be voted on during a June 13 meeting at the Hall of Fame in Dawsonville. [Full Story »]
