Offensive Camp Under Way In Commerce

Hundreds of high school football players are in Commerce this week, as the 13th annual Northeast Georgia Offensive Camp gets under way.

Commerce High School head football coach Steve Savage said last month that he expected between 350 to 425 athletes to come out to the camp, which began on Tuesday and will run through Friday at CHS.

JCCHS basketball team hosts team camp

The men’s Panther basketball team hosted a two-day team camp June 27 and 28. The following teams participated in the camp: Athens Academy, Monroe Area, Washington Wilkes, Bartow County, Banks County, Westminster Academy and Oglethorpe County.

"This was a great opportunity for teams to play a lot of basketball,” said JCCHS coach Britt Beaver. “The camp went very well and the competition was strong. Our kids played hard and we are seeing vast improvements from our play last year. I believe 2008 will be a very exciting year for Panther basketball."

The Panthers have also attended two summer camps this year at Mercer University and Piedmont College.

WBHS to host football camp

Winder-Barrow High School will host a football camp for rising first through eighth graders July 28-31. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the campus of Winder-Barrow High School. [ Full Story » ] 

EJCHS Wrestling Camp Finishes

The first annual East Jackson Wrestling Camp was held recently, running June 9-11 at East Jackson Comprehensive High School.

During the three days, clinics were held by Nate Carr Sr., 1988 Olympic Bronze Medalist and three-time NCAA Champion, EJCHS coach Randy Hill, who is an Ohio high school and college wrestler with over 20 years coaching experience and coach at EJCHS, and EJCHS coach Frank Caputo. [ Full Story » ] 

Future Eagle Basketball Camp Held

The East Jackson Future Eagle Boys Basketball Camp was held June 2-5.

40 participants took part in the camp, which was in its second year.

East Jackson head boys’ basketball coach Brian Turner led the camp. Coach Sid Smith, Coach Jason Rainey and some of the East Jackson high school basketball team assisted him.
