Panthers face Franklin County Friday

The Jackson County Panthers are looking to end their regular season on a winning note this week after dropping games to Elbert and Oconee County last week.

The Panthers will travel to Franklin County Friday night to face the Lions. Franklin came away with a victory in the last meeting of the two teams, 43-30, back on Jan. 26. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

Jackson County will play host to the 4-5 crossover games that will open up region tournament play on Monday. The Panthers are expected to face their first playoff opponent that night. [Full Story »] 

Mat Panthers send 10 to state sectional tournament

The Jackson County Mat Panthers placed third this past weekend at the area tournament, held at Morgan County, with 10 wrestlers qualifying for the sectional tournament, to be held this weekend at Locust Grove.

In addition, Jackson County tied the school record for most Area Champions in a year at four. [Full Story »]

Tuesday night proved to be another good one for the Mat Panthers of Jackson County, as they faced off against Riverside Military Academy, Oglethorpe County and Monroe Area.

The Mat Panthers came away victorious, not losing a varsity match in any of the three pairings.

Panthers defeat Stephens County

The Jackson County Panthers finally snapped an eight game slide last week with a victory over the Stephens County Indians this past Saturday.

The Panthers hope to carry the momentum of that win into the last four regular season games. They will travel Friday night to Oconee County to face the Warriors.

Oconee enters the week 2-6 in the region and 7-10 overall. They won in their last meeting with the Panthers, 55-40, back on Jan. 15. [Full Story »]

The Jackson County Panthers are still searching for their first win of the new year this week, as well as looking to gain some ground in region play after dropping games last week to Mountain View and Hart County.

The Panthers will play host to Stephens County Friday night at the Pit. The Indians enter play this week 1-6 in the region and 3-14 overall. The Panthers won in their last meeting back on Dec. 11, 59-47.

Mat Panthers take second at Walhalla

It was another strong week for the Mat Panthers of Jackson County, picking up wins at home last Tuesday before moving on to place second in a tournament in Walhalla, S.C. on Saturday.

Last Tuesday, Jackson County played host to Forsyth Central and Gainesville, going 2-0 on the night with wins over both schools. [Full Story »]

The Jackson County Panthers continue to look for traction in region play after dropping games last week to Archer and Oconee County.

Their next shot to get their season on track comes on Friday when they travel to Hart County to face the Bulldogs, who enter play this week 3-2 in the region and 12-3 overall.

Mat Panthers take sixth at state duals

It wasn’t the weekend that the Mat Panthers of Jackson County had hoped for. After just missing against Eastside in the area duals last weekend, the Mat Panthers were eliminated from the State Duals by the Eagles on Saturday, 42-24. That gave the Panthers a sixth place finish in the tournament.

The Panthers had defeated Westover in the opening round 68-9, but fell to LaFayette 51-17 to go into the consolation bracket. Jackson County then defeated Towers 44-24, then won in a close contest over West Laurens, 32-20, before falling to Eastside. [Full Story »]

The Jackson County Panthers were hoping to start the new year off on a strong note last week. Unfortunately, that was not to be as they dropped games to Habersham Central and Elbert County.

Mat Panthers qualify for State Meet

The Jackson County Mat Panthers will be heading to the state duals this weekend after taking second in the area duals over the weekend.

The state duals will be held Friday and Saturday in Macon.

The Mat Panthers defeated Archer 70-12, and then moved on to defeat Oconee County 48-24 in the semi-final round. [Full Story »]
