The Jackson County Comprehensive High School has changed a few things for this season’s football time.

A change in region, dropping to 8-AAA, and additions to the coaching staff have all started to put a shine on the Panthers franchise for the fall, but the additions to the weight room are just another cog in the wheel to hopefully pull the Panthers out of the gutter of last season. While the Georgia High School Association forces the state’s football teams to wait to begin practice, the rules never say anything about how early on the first day the schools can start.

That is why the official start of JCCHS Panthers’ football practice is at 12:01 a.m., Friday, August 1.

Coach Billy Kirk is taking advantage of every minute of practice he can get for the Panthers.

Jefferson plays their third game against Eagles Landing Christian at 3 p.m. Friday, May 16.

The bats were fired up and so was the crowd as the Jefferson Dragons faced Trion in the first round of the state playoffs Friday afternoon, May 9. [ Full Story » ]

The first round of single A state playoffs, will face top ranked 8-A Jefferson High School against fourth ranked 6-A Trion. The game is set for Friday, May 9, at Jefferson’s ball fields.

Trion is the fourth ranked team in 6-A, but the Dragons have learned their lesson about underestimating an opponent after Towns County. Knight said that the Dragons were going to get in some practice and be ready for Friday.
Trion’s regular season record is 7-16 overall and 4-6 in region play. [ Full Story » ]
