The Lady Panthers’ fast-pitch softball had a run in with bad luck after facing the number one ranked Oconee County last Thursday falling 6-0 to the Warriors.

The ladies came back from an extended weekend to face Clarke Central Tuesday for the win 14-6.

The Lady Panthers were at Clarke-Central Tuesday in a non-region match up. The Lady Panthers pulled a 14-6 win out of the game despite several mistakes. Haley Shinall struck out 10 only giving up one run. Ashleigh Lance went two for four with three RBIs. Each Lady Panther had at least one hit in Tuesday’s game.

Jackson County’s fast-pitch softball team will be looking for a win Thursday when they face Hart County on the road.

The Lady Panthers volleyball team has been working hard to get back on the winning track, but facing stiff competition as the team grows under the leadership of a new coach.

JCCHS played a match against Prince Ave. and Oconee County, Tuesday night. The ladies fell to Oconee County, the individual game scores for the match, and for the match against Prince Ave. are currently unavailable.

The team will have a couple of days off, until September 4, when they travel to face Cedar Shoals and Monroe Area.

In what is being called a game to build on by the coach, the Jackson County fast-pitch softball team chalked up a victory in the opener.
The Lady Panthers took to the softball field Monday evening in the season opener against Clarke Central and in only four innings had crushed the opposing team 14-2.

Pitcher Haley Shinall struck out seven giving up only three hits and no earned runs.
Coach Tommy Fountain said, “Haley did a great job hitting her spots and never really got into any trouble. She basically dominated the entire game.”

According to the coach, Shinall as well as Becca Nelson, Macey Latty and Brooke Griggs all had big days at the plate. Shinall went three for four with four RBIs. Latty and Griggs both had two hits apiece and Nelson went two for four with an inside homerun and five RBIs. [Full Story »] 

Jackson County’s Lady Panthers softball teams are warmed up and ready to get the season underway. The fast-pitch team is in the second year of a four-year plan to rebuild and the slow-pitch team is an oddity, in a sense, since so few schools maintain a team.

The fast-pitch team, coached by Tommy Fountain, started working out in June two days a week. Due to the number of players that were involved in travel ball the team was unable to participate in any camps or summer leagues.

According to Fountain, the team has 14 girls on roster, with four returning starters. [Full Story »]
