East Jackson’s tennis season got off to a rough start last Thursday as the Eagles dropped both boys’ and girls’ matches to Banks County.

The boys lost 4-1, while the girls were shut out 5-0.

For the boys, their lone win came from the number one doubles team of Tommy Ramsey and Tsin Nuy Ly.

In a rematch on Monday, East Jackson hosted Banks County, and this time the boys came away with a 4-1 win.

The post-season came to an end for the East Jackson Lady Eagles last Tuesday night, as they lost in the first round of region tournament play to Rabun County.

The Lady Eagles had hoped momentum from a Feb. 16 victory over Oglethorpe County that sent them to the first round would carry over to their pairing against the Lady Wildcats.

But Rabun County took control of the game right from the beginning, pulling out a 13-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Lady Eagles found themselves held to five points while Rabun tacked on an additional 13 points to carry a 26-12 lead into the half. [Full Story »] 

Boys Basketball
Feb. 17 - The East Jackson Eagles will continue their post-season after picking up a win Wednesday night over Rabun County 63-43.

They are scheduled to continue tournament play by facing Riverside Friday night at 8:30 p.m. at Rabun County.


Girls Basketball
Feb. 17 - The post-season came to a close for the Lady Eagles on Tuesday, as they lost to Rabun County 55-35.

The Lady Eagles end their season with a 3-10 region record, and 8-18 overall

It was a good end to the regular season for the Lady Eagles of East Jackson, as they recorded two wins last week against Oglethorpe County and Banks County. They then went on to win their first post-season game Monday night against Oglethorpe.

The Lady Eagles’ post-season fate rested on a Tuesday match-up with Rabun County at North Oconee. The winner of the game would go on to face the winner between Union County and Jefferson at JHS on Friday at 7 p.m.

With just four games left in the season, and three of those being subregion pairings, the Lady Eagles of East Jackson had hoped to be on firmer ground.

But so far, they’ve recorded just one region win, placing them fourth in the subregion with only Oglethorpe County trailing them.

Their hopes to add more checks in the win column fell flat last week with losses to Banks County and Oconee County. [Full Story »] 

It was an up and down week for the Lady Eagles of East Jackson, but in the midst of it the team was able to add two wins to their record, including their first region victory of the season.

Up next for the Lady Eagles is a trip to Oconee County on Saturday where they’ll face the Lady Warriors in non-region action.

Oconee County has been victorious in the last two meetings of the two teams, back in December of 2008 and in December of 2007. [Full Story »] 

The Lady Eagles of East Jackson continue to look for a turnaround to what’s been a tough first half of the season. That turning point didn’t come last week, however, as East Jackson lost to North Oconee and to Fannin County, making them 4-10 overall and 0-3 in region play for the year.

The next chance for the Lady Eagles to get another check in the win column comes on Friday, as they play host to Jefferson.

The Lady Dragons are having their own struggles this year. Overall, they are 3-12, but they are 1-0 in region play going into Tuesday. [Full Story »]
