The Jackson County cross country teams turned in a pair of strong finishes last week in a four-team meet at Madison County, as the girls were victorious and the boys’ team placed second against East Jackson, Madison County and Commerce.

The girls’ team was led by race winner Brittany Aikens and second place finisher Sydney Baird.

Other scoring finishers included Lexi Miller in fifth, Katie Maiolo in seventh, Mary Collin eighth and Susie Diesch in tenth. [Full Story »]

The Jackson County Lady Panthers are looking to put a couple more wins on the board this week after suffering losses to Apalachee and Morgan County.

Jackson County will next face Apalachee and Madison County at Apalachee on Thursday.

The Jackson County Panthers saw their win streak come to an end Friday night at the hands of the Morgan County Bulldogs.

The Panthers came up just short on a 14-7 final score in their first region pairing of the year.

It wasn’t the week the Lady Panthers of Jackson County were hoping for, as they dropped two games before seeing a weekend tournament cancelled due to wet weather.

That leaves Jackson County with a 5-2 region record, and 13-9-1 overall.

The Lady Panthers will take to the field for their final game of the regular season today (Wednesday), as they’ll play host to the Lady Bears of Mountain View for senior night. [Full Story »]

The Jefferson Dragon cross country teams had strong showings over the weekend in the Eagle Run at East Jackson Comprehensive High School.

The girls’ team placed second out of 15 teams that competed, with Cara Smith finishing 12th overall with a 23:00. [Full Story »]

Despite wet and muddy conditions, the Jackson County Panthers cross country teams performed well at the Eagle Run, held at East Jackson Comprehensive High School Saturday.

The girls team placed sixth, while the boys placed 16th.

The Lady Panthers of Jackson County had to fight opponents and the weather last week, but came away making the Gold Medal Round of the North Fall Classic, which will be played this coming Saturday.

The next region pairing for the Lady Panthers, who are 6-0 in region play and 13-7-1 overall, will come Thursday, as Stephens County will travel to JCCHS for a 5:55 p.m. match up. [Full Story »]

It’s been 28 years since the Jackson County Panthers football team found themselves with a 3-0 record going into the fourth game of the season.

But that’s exactly where the Panthers are going into the start of region play Friday after defeating Prince Avenue Christian last week, tasting their first homecoming game victory in about 20 years.

It was a strong showing for the Jackson County Panthers cross country teams as they traveled to Banks County last week.

The girls won the six-team event, with Brittany Aikins winning the event with a 22:41.

Rachel Pasko placed second overall in the event, while Sydney Baird finished sixth in her first career 5K event. [Full Story »]
