The Jackson County Panthers cross country team traveled to Nicholson last week to take part in the MainStreet Meet at East Jackson Comprehensive High School with six area teams competing.

The boys finished fifth overall, with Thomas Carroll turning in an 18th place finish with a personal best time of 20:10 to top the Jackson County runners. [Full Story »]

The Lady Panthers of Jackson County saw their season come to a close last week at the hands of St. Pius X in the first round of GHSA state playoff action, as the Lady Golden Lions bested Jackson County in two out of three games.

It was another rough outing for the Jackson County Panthers, as they continue to look for their first region win of the year.

Friday night saw a match-up with Eastside that resulted in a 48-0 victory for the Eagles.

The Panthers will play their final home game of the season Friday night, as they play host to the Elbert County Blue Devils. [Full Story »]

The Lady Panthers volleyball team of Jackson County saw its season come to a close over the weekend, as they lost in the first round of region play.

On Saturday, the Lady Panthers were defeated by the Lady Eagles of Eastside 2-0, with set scores of 26-24 and 25-18.

Post-season play got underway last week for the Jackson County Lady Panthers softball team, as they faced Morgan County, Oconee County, Stephens County and Elbert County to begin the road to state playoff action.

Last Monday, Jackson County traveled to Oconee County as the number two seed in the sub-region to face Morgan County in the first game of region playoffs. [Full Story »]

After the cancellation of a scheduled meet at Banks County, the Jackson County Panthers cross country teams made a late entry into a five-team meet at North Oconee, and turned in a good performance.

Brittany Aikens won for the girls with a 20:18, followed by a third place effort by freshman Sydney Baird, who ran a personal best time of 22:21.

The Jackson County Panthers continue to look for traction in region play. After opening the season with three consecutive victories that saw them amass 99 total points, the Panthers haven’t won since they began region play on Sept. 25, and have scored only 21 points.

The latest loss came Friday as Jackson County fell to the Lions of Franklin County, 42-7.

Their next attempt to pick up a region win will be a tough one, as the Panthers will play host to the Eastside Eagles Friday night. [Full Story »]

Jackson County’s Lady Panthers moved closer to the end of its regular season last week with matches against Tallulah Falls, East Jackson, Apalachee and Madison County.

Jackson County now begins preparation for area tournament play, which begins on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Jackson County started last Tuesday with a match against Tallulah Falls, which they lost 2-0, with set scores of 25-21 and 25-18. [Full Story »]

The JCCHS softball team wrapped up their regular season last week with games against Franklin County and Mountain View.

Unfortunately, both of those games ended in defeat for the Lady Panthers, as they fell last Tuesday to Franklin County 1-0, then lost on Wednesday to Mountain View 4-0.

The Jackson County Panthers are still looking for their first region win of 2009 after falling to the Bulldogs of Hart County hard Friday night, 42-7.

Their next chance will come on the road this Friday, as the Panthers travel to Franklin County to face the Lions.

Franklin County is currently undefeated in region play, having defeated Morgan County 28-6 Friday night. [Full Story »]
