The Jefferson Dragon football and cheerleading banquet will be held this Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Jefferson Civic Center at 5 p.m.

The JHS Athletic Department will provide the main course and all paper goods needed.

Football parents are asked to bring side dishes, and cheerleading parents are asked to bring desserts and drinks. [ Full Story » ] 

After splitting the first two games of the Oconee Warrior Classic with a loss to Sevier Co., Tenn., and a win over Prince Avenue, the Lady Dragons of Jefferson were looking to finish their tournament play on a high note, as they faced off against Clarke Central to see who would place fifth in the tournament.

Things didn’t go their way, however, as Jefferson took home a loss in the contest, their eighth of the season.

Next up for the Lady Dragons is a trip to Franklin County on Saturday, where they’ll face off against a strong Lady Lions team. [ Full Story » ] 

It took two close, come from behind games to do it, but the Jefferson Dragons came away from Oconee County last week as the champions of the 2008 Warrior Classic.

Now the focus turns to their upcoming region schedule. The Dragons will travel to Gainesville to face Riverside Military Academy on Friday.

The Jefferson Dragons made a good start on their efforts in the Warrior Holiday Classic on Saturday, as they picked up a win over the Smokey Bears of Sevier Co., Tenn., 61-56.

With the win the Dragons were slated to face Oconee County Monday night, with the winner moving on to the championship game on Tuesday.

The Jefferson Lady Dragons were hoping to build some momentum off of a decisive victory last week over Commerce.

But that momentum swung in the other direction, unfortunately, as the Lady Dragons lost back-to-back games to East Hall on Tuesday, and to Union County on Friday.
