Two of the more surprising teams in Region 8-AAAAA to this point in the 2014 football season will meet Friday night in Conyers.
The winner will continue to be in strong postseason condition as the balance of power within 8-AAAAA may be beginning to shift somewhat.
Winder-Barrow High School, which improved to 2-1 in region play after defeating Loganville High School last week, will venture to Salem High School, which sports a perfect 3-0 region mark after upsetting Clarke Central 19-17 last Friday on a late field goal.
“Salem is big, strong and athletic,” said WBHS coach Heath Webb. “They are very improved. They have a lot of players with a lot of experience. They have taken their lumps the last couple of years with these same kids. They have been in the battle before. Now, they are grown up and are a pretty good football team.”
