It proved to be an up and down week for the East Jackson Eagles, as they picked up their second region win of the year against Union County on Tuesday, then lost in a close game to Dawson County on Friday.

Next up for the Eagles is a trip to Fannin County on Friday, where they’ll face a 4-4 Rebels team that is looking for its first region win. Tip-off is at 8:30 p.m.

East Jackson has had good luck in the past against Fannin County, recording wins against the Rebels twice during 2008.
Coming out of a disappointing holiday break that ended in back-to-back losses, the Eagles hit the court last Tuesday looking to regain their winning form.

After a solid start to tournament play in the Warrior Holiday Classic at Oconee County last week, the East Jackson Eagles found themselves on the short end of a losing score in their last two games of the tournament.

Now East Jackson looks to get the main part of their region schedule off to a strong start, as they travel to Dawson County to face the Tigers on Friday. In their last two meetings, Dawson has come away the winner, with both of those games coming in January of last year.

With a 6-3 overall record, Dawson County appears to hold the edge going into Friday’s game. While the Eagles have outscored the Tigers this season, recording 530 points to Dawson County’s 501, the Tigers have allowed less points to be scored against them, 381 to East Jackson’s 518. [Full Story »] 

The East Jackson Eagles had hoped to come home from Philips Arena with a victory over the North Hall Trojans.

While they just missed that win, falling 66-63, it was still a unique opportunity to play at a major venue prior to an Atlanta Hawks game.

The East Jackson Eagles are hoping to enter the Christmas break on a high note. On Tuesday, they were scheduled to travel to Philips Arena in Atlanta to face the North Hall Trojans prior to an Atlanta Hawks game.

“I think the kids have been looking forward to this game more than anything else this year,” said coach Brian Turner. “Just the opportunity to play at Philips Arena is an experience that they will never forget even after they leave high school.”

It will be the first time the two teams will have the opportunity to face each other. East Jackson entered the game 1-0 in their region, and 3-4 overall, while North Hall had yet to play a region game, and was 5-3 overall. [Full Story »] 

The East Jackson Eagles find themselves in the midst of a two game wining streak after picking up a win in their first region game of the year against Riverside Military Academy last Tuesday, then moving on to defeat Washington-Wilkes in a home stand Friday night.

It’s been a good start to the season for the Mat Eagles of East Jackson.

First, they placed second to Dacula in the Westside Rumble Tournament on Nov. 21, scoring 185.5 points to Dacula’s 220. [Full Story »] 

After closing out last weekend’s Talon Tip-Off tournament with losses to Johnson and Pace Academy, the East Jackson Eagles boys’ basketball team is looking for improvement this week as it starts regular season play, and continues to prepare for region play.

The Eagles will host Oconee County Friday. In their one previous meeting, which occurred in a Christmas tournament last year, the Warriors defeated East Jackson 64-55.
