After a week off, the East Jackson Eagles are ready to return to the gridiron, looking for their second win of the year with a trip to Rabun County Friday night for a 7:30 kickoff.
The Eagles went into the bye week off of a 42-0 loss to the Banks County Leopards during homecoming on Oct. 3. With a 1-4 region record, they are tied for seventh place in the region with Dawson and Rabun Counties.
It’s that tie that could mean their second victory of the year, and their second region victory in the Eagles’ short history.
Rabun County is in the same boat as East Jackson, but on paper, the Eagles have a clear advantage.

Lady Eagles Are Region Champs
Lightning struck twice this past weekend, as the Lady Eagles softball team of East Jackson won their second region 8-AA championship in only their second year of existence. The Eagles rolled undefeated through region tournament play last week, defeating the Jefferson Lady Dragons for the title.
Now the number one seed Lady Eagles move on to sectional tournament play in Dalton later this week, as they’ll first face number four seed Coosa at 4:00 Friday afternoon.
Coosa enters Friday’s game following a 3-1 loss to Adairsville, finishing fourth in region 7-AA. During the season, they went 10-4 in region play, and 13-5 overall.
For more on the Lady Eagles' region win see Wednesday's edition of The Commerce News and The Jackson Herald.

Eagles Trounced By Riverside 44-6, Host Banks Co. Fri.
There’s no other word for it. For the East Jackson Eagles, Friday night was painful. The pain was dished out by the Eagles of Riverside Military Academy, who trounced the “Pride of the East Side” 44-6 in Gainesville.
The Eagles will have to put the loss behind them this week, as they prepare to host the Banks County Leopards Friday night. The Leopards come into Friday night’s match up off a 12-7 loss to North Oconee. Side by side, the Leopards have scored 132 points to East Jackson’s 31. However, the Eagles have allowed fewer points to be scored against them than the Leopards, 134 to 140.
Game time Friday night is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
For more East Jackson football see Wednesday's edition of The Commerce News or The Jackson Herald.
