The East Jackson Eagles knew going into Friday night’s game that their pairing with the Union County Panthers would be a tough one. The Panthers entered the game undefeated, having knocked off North Oconee the week before.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, that’s the same way Union County’s record looked when they left town Friday night, as the Panthers defeated East Jackson 35-14. [Full Story »] 

Lady Eagles Record Six Victories

It was a successful weekend for the East Jackson Lady Eagles as they picked up five wins in six games at the Oconee Invitational just two days after winning their second region game of the year.

With the wins, East Jackson is 2-1 in region play, and 13-4 overall. The Eagles are tied for second in the region with Oglethorpe County and Jefferson. North Oconee, who is undefeated in region play thus far, is in first.

Lady Eagles Continue To Look For Area Win

The East Jackson Lady Eagles volleyball team continues to seek its first area win of the season after losses last week to Athens Academy, Jefferson and Prince Avenue Christian.

East Jackson was scheduled to travel to North Oconee Tuesday for a varsity quad-match with North Oconee, Athens Christian, and Greene County. Results of that match were unavailable at press time. Check www.mainstreetnewssports.com for scores and updates throughout the week.

Softball
Sept. 16 - The Lady Eagles extended their win streak to five on Tuesday, as they defeated the Lady Wildcats of Rabun County 6-0. The win extends East Jackson's record to 3-1 in the region, and 14-4 overall. The win moved East Jackson into solo ownership of second place in 8B-AA, trailing North Oconee by two games.
The Lady Eagles are scheduled to Union County on Thursday at home. First pitch is scheduled for 5:55 p.m.

Volleyball
Sept. 16 - The Lady Eagles picked up their first area win of the year on Tuesday, defeating Greene County in two close sets. East Jackson won set one by a score of 25-22, and the second 27-25. Earlier in the day, the Lady Eagles had lost to Athens Christian 0-2, and to North Oconee 0-2.
East Jackson is scheduled to face Cedar Shoals and Loganville at Cedar Shoals on Thursday.

Eagles Pound Patriots With Late Push For Region Win

The East Jackson Eagles went into Friday night’s game hoping to put their first mark in the Region 8AA win column.

They did just that, and in convincing fashion, as they recorded their first-ever region win with a 38-7 pounding of Oglethorpe County.

After a week to savor the win, the Eagles will get back to work Friday night as they host the Union County Panthers.

Eagles Grab First Region Football Victory

It was a historic night for the Eagles of East Jackson, as the team recorded their first region football win in school's history with a 38 - 7 victory over Oglethorpe County.

The Eagles controlled the gridiron all night, rushing for a total of 256 yards, with 43 passing yards by quarterback Evan Williamson.

Robbie King scored three touchdowns on the night, while Standrick Stevens and C.J. Allen both scored one each.

After a successful outing two weeks ago at the Northeast Georgia Cross Country meet, the East Jackson Eagle cross country teams will try to repeat that performance on their home turf.

The Eagles were scheduled to host several area teams at an open meet on Tuesday. Results of that meet were unavailable at press time. Check the East Jackson Scoreboard for Sept. 11 for updates.

Cross Country
Sept. 9 - East Jackson played host to an open meet on Tuesday. It was a historic day for the Eagles, as the boys' team recorded the first perfect score in school history to pick up the win. Cedar Shoals placed second, followed by Banks County, Riverside Military Academy, Jackson County and Commerce.

The girls also won their five team meet, with Jackson County fnishign second, followed by Cedar Shoals, Banks County and Commerce.

Next up for East Jackson is the Eagle Run Invitational on Sept. 20 at EJCHS.

Softball
Sept. 9 - The Lady Eagles recorded their second region win of the season Tuesday, defeating Oglethorpe County 6-0. The victory improves East Jackson's record to 2-0 in the region, and 8-3 overall.

The Lady Eagles are scheduled to start play in the Oconee-North Oconee Invitational on Friday.

Volleyball
Sept. 9 - The East Jackson Lady Eagles dropped two matches in Jefferson on Tuesday. The first loss came at the hands of Athens Academy, 2-0. The Lady Dragons then defeated East Jackson 2-0 in the second match of the day.

The Lady Eagles are scheduled to play host to Prince avenue on Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m.

East Jackson Travels To Oconee Invitational

The East Jackson Lady Eagles started region play with a win over Dawson County, then dropped their next game in a squeaker in extra innings to North Oconee last week.

They were scheduled to travel to Loganville on Monday, but that game was postponed due to the weather.
