The Lady Eagles of East Jackson had a rough opening to their season Saturday night, as they faced the Lady Rams of Grayson in the opening round of play in the Talon Tip-Off tournament at East Jackson.
Grayson bested the Lady Eagles 74-49.
It was a spirited game against a very athletic Grayson team right from the start. The Lady Eagles found themselves down 26-9 at the end of the first quarter, and saw the deficit grow to 20 points as the Lady Rams led 47-27 going into the half.

The East Jackson Eagles basketball team hoped to start off their season on a winning note Saturday, as they played host to the opening day of the Talon Tip-Off tournament.
But a strong Grayson team gave them a run for their money, and at the end, the Rams came away with a 65-57 victory.

Eagles Travel to North Oconee Friday
It was a squeaker, but in the end, the East Jackson Eagles picked up their second region victory of the year, as well as the second in school history, with a 24-20 win over the Rabun County Wildcats last Friday night in Tiger.
They’ll travel to North Oconee to face the Titans Friday night.
The Titans are in the midst of a four-game win streak after knocking off Dawson County 16-7 Friday. They are tied with Fannin County for second place in 8-AA, while the Eagles are mired back in seventh after Friday night’s win. [ Full Story » ]

After a week off, the East Jackson Eagles are ready to return to the gridiron, looking for their second win of the year with a trip to Rabun County Friday night for a 7:30 kickoff.
The Eagles went into the bye week off of a 42-0 loss to the Banks County Leopards during homecoming on Oct. 3. With a 1-4 region record, they are tied for seventh place in the region with Dawson and Rabun Counties.
It’s that tie that could mean their second victory of the year, and their second region victory in the Eagles’ short history.

Lady Eagles Are Region Champs
Lightning struck twice this past weekend, as the Lady Eagles softball team of East Jackson won their second region 8-AA championship in only their second year of existence. The Eagles rolled undefeated through region tournament play last week, defeating the Jefferson Lady Dragons for the title.
Now the number one seed Lady Eagles move on to sectional tournament play in Dalton later this week, as they’ll first face number four seed Coosa at 4:00 Friday afternoon.
Coosa enters Friday’s game following a 3-1 loss to Adairsville, finishing fourth in region 7-AA. During the season, they went 10-4 in region play, and 13-5 overall.
