It was a re-run of last weekend’s 8-12 Junior Dragster finals, with points leader Chris Bowden, age 13 of Homer, alongside Hunter James, age 10 of Cartersville, who came back for a little revenge.
James had a slight handicap with his 9.50 dial-in, next to Bowden’s 8.98 dial-in, but left the Christmas tree with a .136 green, a slow start beside Bowden’s .014 launch.

Onda Earns First Atlanta Dragway Win
By Amy Glover
Summit ET points race regulars returned to Atlanta Dragway this past weekend, and with good weather and fast speeds, they put on a great show for the fans.
Dragsters dominated the Super Pro final, with Jim Onda of Toccoa in his ’96 dragster against Tommy Motes of Loganville in his ’00 Undercover. The men were dialed closely, Onda at 4.89 and Motes at 4.93. Motes had a slightly better .024 reaction time next to Onda’s .029 light. However, Motes’ dragster failed towards the top end, slowing due to mechanical issues, finishing with a 7.76 elapsed time at 48.44 mph. Onda sped past to cross the win stripe first, in 5.09 seconds at 113.58 mph. According to Jim Onda, he “wasn’t even going to come today,” but ended up recording his first win at Atlanta Dragway.

Homer’s Bowman Takes Hayes Win At Atlanta Dragway
By Amy & Tim Glover
The Hayes Automotive group and YearOne teamed up this past weekend for the Hayes Automotive American Muscle Meet, presented by Year One, at the Atlanta Dragway. The show featured all makes of American muscle cars in many different settings, including a Car Show, Swap Meet and Car Corral.
Seven different classes contested on the quarter mile, ranging from the popular Jr. Dragsters for kids eight to seventeen years old to the ultra quick Super Pro machines.
The Junior Dragster class may have had the tightest final of the night, without advantage as a result of no tree-end red lights or top-end breakouts. It came down to the older boys of the category to finish the race, with Homer’s Brett Bowman, 17, and Chase Mullinax of Buford, also 17, facing off. [Full Story »]

Commerce vs. Banks Co. at Dragway’s Night of Fire
