The numbers and expectations are high for the Winder-Barrow High School cross country team this fall.
Coach Michael Lofton said 40 runners are in the program which will make for top-level competition for the varsity positions. WBHS begins the new season Saturday at the Northeast Georgia Championship hosted by Athens Christian School.
“The cream will have to rise to the top for our runners,” Lofton said. “If you want a spot on varsity you will have to earn it.”
