The Jackson County Lady Panthers cross country team closed out their 2009 campaign with a 16th place finish in state competition at Carrollton over the weekend.

Brittany Aikens was the top finisher for the girls, placing seventh overall with a time of 19:39, and earning AAA All-State honors.

Sydney Baird placed 69th with a 22:10. Rachel Pasko finished 96th with a 23:07. Mary Collin placed 144th with a 24:18. [Full Story »]

The Jefferson Lady Dragons wrapped up their cross country season Saturday at Carrollton High School with an 11th place finish in the state meet.

Cara Smith was the top runner for the girls, placing 37th with a time of 22:19. Lauren Phillips finished 41st with a time of 22:55.

In the final race of the year, Corey Brakhage led all Madison County runners with a 19:53 this past Saturday’s Region 8-AAAA meet in Conyers.

A second place finish for the second year in a row in the 8-AAA region meet at Athens Christian will send the Jackson County girls cross country team to state competition.

The girls were led by race winner Brittany Aikens, who placed second overall with a time of 19:50. Sydney Baird placed eighth with a 23:25. Rachel Pasko placed 11th with a 23:46. Lexie Miller placed 24th with a 25:00. Mary Collin placed 29th with a 25:28. Other runners included Katie Maiolo and Susie Diesch. [Full Story »]

The Jefferson cross country girls team are headed to state competition this weekend after coming home with a fourth place finish at the 8-AA region meet at Riverside Military Academy last week.

The Lady Dragons finished behind Dawson County, East Jackson and North Oconee, and beat out Union County. [Full Story »]

The Jackson County Panther cross country teams competed twice last week as they continue to prepare for this week’s region meet.

The teams started last Wednesday at Buford, where the boys’ team placed sixth with some strong times.

The Jefferson Dragons cross country teams traveled this past Saturday to Riverside Military Academy in preparation of the regional championships.

Despite cold, windy weather, the Dragons saw many team members, both boys and girls, put up new personal records with their times.

The Jefferson Dragons cross country team posted strong times and placed well at last week’s MainStreet Meet, held at East Jackson Comprehensive High School.

The Jackson County Panthers cross country team traveled to Nicholson last week to take part in the MainStreet Meet at East Jackson Comprehensive High School with six area teams competing.

The boys finished fifth overall, with Thomas Carroll turning in an 18th place finish with a personal best time of 20:10 to top the Jackson County runners. [Full Story »]

After the cancellation of a scheduled meet at Banks County, the Jackson County Panthers cross country teams made a late entry into a five-team meet at North Oconee, and turned in a good performance.

Brittany Aikens won for the girls with a 20:18, followed by a third place effort by freshman Sydney Baird, who ran a personal best time of 22:21.
