The Bethlehem Christian Academy baseball team did what most expected it would do in the opening round of the state playoffs.

The Knights swept visiting Georgia Christian 15-0 and 14-0 to advance to the GISA Class A state quarterfinals. While pleased that his team took care of business, BCA coach Nick Pou said there is no reason for a big celebration yet.

“This was step one,” Pou said. “We are not happy yet. This is just part of the process.” [Full Story »] 

Kevin Green became the first state track champion in Bethlehem Christian Academy history by winning the 300-meter hurdles at the GISA Class A meet last week in Albany.
Green completed the event in 46.52 at Hugh Mill Stadium to earn first place.

“Kevin had a great performance,” said coach Lance Fendley. “We are proud that he is the first state track champion in school history. That sets the top for the future of our program.”

In addition to Green’s state title, Ben Morgan was the GISA Class A state runner-up in the 100-meter dash in 11.81. [Full Story »] 

The Bethlehem Christian Academy baseball team enters the postseason as a No. 1 seed after posting an undefeated record in GISA Region 1-A.

As much as the players and coaches appreciate that accomplishment, the Knights have their eyes set on a bigger prize. After advancing to the state semifinals last spring in their first full season of varsity play, BCA is hoping to take the final step this season and compete for it all.

That quest begins Friday with an opening-round best-of-three state series against Georgia Christian. A 1:30 p.m. doubleheader is set for Friday with a third game, if necessary set for Saturday. [Full Story »] 

The Bethlehem Christian Academy track teams had two region champions and will send several athletes to this week’s GISA state meet in Albany.

Austin Schwebel won the Region 1-A title in the shot put last week with a throw of 38-0.

Kevin Green also took first place in the 300-meter hurdles in 47.90. Green will also compete at state in the long jump after finishing third with a mark of 17-4 and in the 100-meter dash after taking fourth at region in 11.65. [Full Story »] 

Bethlehem Christian Academy’s track teams competed at Gatewood in Eatonton April 17.

Kevin Green won the long jump for the BCA boys at 19-8. Greene was also sixth in the 100-meter dash in 11.97.

Ben Morgan was the winner in the 100-meter dash in 11.48. Morgan took third place in the 200-meter event in 23.97. [Full Story »] 

Bethlehem Christian Academy improved to 5-0 in GISA Region 1-A Tuesday with a 28-3 road win against Curtis Baptist in Augusta.

Niko Mailloux earned the win while Matt Masters had a grand slam and finished 3-for-4 with six RBI. Jordan Fountain was 2-for-4 while Luke Allen was 4-for-5. Jacob Fincher went 3-for-4.

Jared Martin added a 3-for-4 afternoon while Mailloux was 2-for-4.

BCA will travel to Thomas Jefferson Friday and host John Hancock Monday in Region 1-A contests. Both games begin at 4:30 p.m.

The Bethlehem Christian Academy baseball team held on for a 2-1 road victory against Nathanael Greene Academy Tuesday.

The win allowed the Knights to remain undefeated in GISA Region 1-A.

“It was a crazy game,” said BCA coach Nick Pou. “Their pitcher (D.J. Shelnutt) did a good job and we left 14 runners on base. It was just a game where nothing fell for us.”
P.J. Klein earned the win for the Knights.

BCA is now 4-0 in Region 1-A and 9-5-1 overall.

BCA NOTES: Knights senior catcher Matt Masters was scheduled to sign with Young Harris Wednesday morning. Masters has been a key player during the 2012 and 2013 season for the BCA baseball team.

The Bethlehem Christian Academy baseball team got back on the winning side Monday with an 11-1 Region 1-A win against visiting Curtis Baptist.
The victory improved BCA to 3-0 against region foes and was the eighth win overall for the Knights. Senior Jared Martin pitched another strong contest allowing just two hits through five innings.

BCA was without the services of four starters due to disciplinary reasons.

“It gave our younger players a chance to get some experience and step in and help us earn an important region win,” Knights coach Nick Pou said. “Every region win means a great deal. We were glad to earn the win.” [Full Story »] 

With spring break at hand, the Bethlehem Christian Academy baseball team will get to experience a true road trip this week.

The Knights will play at Fredrica Academy in St. Simons Wednesday before traveling to South Carolina to face Hilton Head High School.

“We plan to leave after our game against John Hancock Tuesday,” BCA coach Nick Pou said. “We’ll play Wednesday and then let the players enjoy spring break for a couple of days and then play again.” [Full Story »]
