Grill opens season at Gresham with victory

Augie Grill dominated the Champion Racing Association (CRA) Super Late Model season opening event at Gresham Motorsports Park Saturday.

The Hayden, Ala., driver served notice early that he would be the driver to beat posting fast time in qualifying with a 16.169 second tour of the GMP half-mile oval.

Grill started third on the 26-car starting field after the post-qualifying inversion and wasted little time moving to the front taking the lead from Ryan Lawler on Lap 16. [Full Story »] 

Gresham season opener set for Saturday

If the pre-entry list is any indication, Saturday’s Champion Racing Association (CRA) Super Series Super Late Model event is going to produce plenty of thrills for fans attending the season-opening race at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson this Saturday.

A total of 27 Super Late Model teams and drivers have already entered the 125-lap event with several others expected to be on hand with the 2010 season takes the green flag this Saturday.

A longtime staple of the Gresham facility when it was known as Jefco, Georgia International and Peach State Speedways, Saturday’s race will mark the first time the Super Late Models have competed at GMP since 2008. [Full Story »]

After taking command around lap 150, NASCAR Sprint Cup series regular Kyle Busch set sail and never looked back as he cruised to his second straight SpeedFest Super Late Model victory at Lanier National Speedway Sunday.

Busch held off charges from pole sitter and NASCAR Nationwide series regular Steven Wallace and from Georgia racer Bubba Pollard to take the victory. [Full Story »] 

LNS to host Speedfest this weekend

Lanier National Speedway will play host this weekend to the 2010 Speedfest Late Model event, being held Saturday and Sunday January 30 and 31.

Speedfest is the year’s first big short-track stock car event attracting drivers from all over the country. This event has attracted some of NASCAR’s biggest stars over the years. The event, which was originally held at Lakeland Speedway in Florida, moved to Lanier in 2009. [Full Story »]

Gresham Motorsports Park has announced its 2010 stock car racing schedule - a mix of national, regional and local events – to be contested on the facility’s all-new half-mile oval.

Headlining the 12-race calendar is a NASCAR Camping World Series East race on Saturday, August 28. The event marks a return of NASCAR to the track that originally opened with a NASCAR Late Model Sportsman (now Nationwide) race in 1967. [Full Story »]

Gresham Motorsports Park added some sizzle to its 2010 schedule last week with the announcement that the totally renovated facility would play host to a NASCAR Camping World Series East event next season.

Months of anticipation will come to a head this weekend when Gresham Motorsports Park reopens with the 26th annual World Crown 300.

The historic late model stock car race will close out a three-day weekend speedfest that begins Friday at the totally refurbished racing facility.

Formerly Peach State Speedway, the facility has undergone a massive eight-month renovation that has completely changed the landscape of the track. [Full Story »]

Several local charities and community agencies will be the big winners at the Gresham Motorsports Park Grand Opening free community festival this Saturday, November 7.

Defending World Crown 300 champion Russell Fleeman heads a quickly growing list of entries for the 2009 Late Model racing classic that will re-open the totally renovated Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson the weekend of November 13-15.

“The old racetrack had a lot of character to it,” said Fleeman of the former Peach State Speedway. “Now the racetrack has new asphalt on it and while it has similar characteristics, it’s a whole lot faster. This place is fabulous. Mr. Gresham and the rest of the team here have done a fantastic job with the entire facility renovation.
