After several months of deafening silence around Hartwell Speedway, the low rumble of racing engines once again filled the night air this past Saturday, beckoning both race fans and drivers from miles around to Hartwell Speedway’s season opener.
With a renewed spirit fans were treated to a night filled with built up anticipation and excitement like none other.
Hartwell Speedway veterans Morris Lester and Otis Fleeman continued their rein of wins in the Up Front and Stock V-8 class, while drivers such as Parker Herring, Tim Elrod, Mitchell Godfrey (Madison County) and Frankie Beard brought a fresh new look to the winners circle in Limited Late Model, Modified Street, Stock Four and FASTRAK Late Model divisions.
Action returns to Hartwell Speedway this Saturday, April 16, with a full race program in Limited Late Model, FASTRAK Late Model, Modified Street, Stock V-8, Stock Four, Young Guns and Up Front divisions.
For Madison County drivers the Hartwell Speedway season opener was a successful night. County resident Godfrey won the Stock Four Cylinder event followed by Comer’s Jimmy Little in third. Danielsville was represented well as Jeffery Lord took sixth followed by Paul Ballenger in ninth and Ricky Roberts twelfth.
In the Limited Late Model event, Bubba Russell, Comer, finished fourth.
