After several months of deafening silence around Hartwell Speedway, the low rumble of racing engines once again filled the night air this past Saturday, beckoning both race fans and drivers from miles around to Hartwell Speedway’s season opener.

With a renewed spirit fans were treated to a night filled with built up anticipation and excitement like none other.

Hartwell Speedway veterans Morris Lester and Otis Fleeman continued their rein of wins in the Up Front and Stock V-8 class, while drivers such as Parker Herring, Tim Elrod, Mitchell Godfrey (Madison County) and Frankie Beard brought a fresh new look to the winners circle in Limited Late Model, Modified Street, Stock Four and FASTRAK Late Model divisions.

Action returns to Hartwell Speedway this Saturday, April 16, with a full race program in Limited Late Model, FASTRAK Late Model, Modified Street, Stock V-8, Stock Four, Young Guns and Up Front divisions.

For Madison County drivers the Hartwell Speedway season opener was a successful night. County resident Godfrey won the Stock Four Cylinder event followed by Comer’s Jimmy Little in third. Danielsville was represented well as Jeffery Lord took sixth followed by Paul Ballenger in ninth and Ricky Roberts twelfth.

In the Limited Late Model event, Bubba Russell, Comer, finished fourth. [Full Story »] 

Chase Elliott scored one of the biggest wins of his young career capturing the Monolith Companies 100 Pro Late Model race Saturday at Gresham Motorsports Park.

The 14-year-old Dawsonville native saw his strongest challengers self-destruct in the 100-lap event. In the end, Elliott still had the best car and roared away to a half-lap lead over Johnny Henderson, Nick Potts, Gene Kirila and Kevin Stephens. [Full Story »] 

High speeds return to the high banks in Jefferson this Saturday night, as Gresham Motorsports Park returns to action.

Saturday’s event will feature a 100-lap Pro Late Model feature with main events in the Outlaw Late Model, Renegade Street Stock, Mini Stock and Truck divisions. [Full Story »] 

The USARacing Pro Cup division and Gresham Motorsports Park have a lot in common.

Both groups are the new face of old favorites. In the case of USAR Pro Cup, they used to be the Hooters Pro Cup Series. For GMP, it is a shining, all-new racing facility where Jefco, Georgia International and Peach State Speedways stood for 40 years. [Full Story »] 

Augie Grill dominated the Champion Racing Association (CRA) Super Late Model season opening event at Gresham Motorsports Park Saturday.

The Hayden, Ala., driver served notice early that he would be the driver to beat posting fast time in qualifying with a 16.169 second tour of the GMP half-mile oval.

Grill started third on the 26-car starting field after the post-qualifying inversion and wasted little time moving to the front taking the lead from Ryan Lawler on Lap 16. [Full Story »] 

If the pre-entry list is any indication, Saturday’s Champion Racing Association (CRA) Super Series Super Late Model event is going to produce plenty of thrills for fans attending the season-opening race at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson this Saturday.

A total of 27 Super Late Model teams and drivers have already entered the 125-lap event with several others expected to be on hand with the 2010 season takes the green flag this Saturday.

A longtime staple of the Gresham facility when it was known as Jefco, Georgia International and Peach State Speedways, Saturday’s race will mark the first time the Super Late Models have competed at GMP since 2008. [Full Story »]
