JEFFERSON High School middle hitter Sarah Wood has become the first ever all-state volleyball player in the school’s history as she was recently named all-state honorable mention.
“I’m proud of her,” Dragon coach Mike Paul said. “It was well-deserved.”
Wood was the only public school player on the Class AA ballot.
She broke four school records this year, including setting the single-season kills record with 509 as Jefferson went 28-16 this past season.
“Her stats spoke for themselves,” Paul said.
The coach called the all-state accolade “quite an honor” for Wood. He also said the recognition is big for the program.
“It definitely puts a feather in our cap, the fact that we’re getting some state-wide notoriety,” he said.
