Three Dragons sign on National Signing Day

Three Jefferson seniors made their choices last week as to what schools they plan to play for after graduation.

Zach Crosby, Tab Martin and Patrick Allen were joined by friends and family members for the signings during National Signing Day.

The Lady Dragons of Jefferson are riding a four game winning streak towards the post season, as they picked up region wins against Dawson County, Oglethorpe County and East Jackson last week, giving them a 5-1 region record, and placing them solidly in second in the subregion.

The Lady Dragons will wrap up their regular season with a trip to face the subregion leader, North Oconee, on Friday. The undefeated Lady Titans have been the only team to beat Jefferson in region play this season.

Jefferson hosts sectionals tournament beginning Friday

The Jefferson Mat Dragons took another step towards adding another state title to their already impressive resume last weekend by taking top honors in the area tournament, and by qualifying all 14 wrestlers for this weekend’s sectionals tournament in Jefferson.

Jefferson scored 293 points to take the top spot, followed by Banks County with 201.50 and East Jackson with 168.50. [Full Story »]

Dragons defeat East Jackson 59-48 on senior night

The Jefferson Dragons are now locked in as the number one seed for next week’s region tournament.

The Jefferson Dragons continue to roll towards the post season as they picked up wins over North Oconee and Commerce last week, and continue to hold on to first place in the subregion.

Now the Dragons’ attention turns to their next challenge when they travel to Oglethorpe County to face the Patriots Friday.

Jefferson to travel to Oglethorpe County Friday

The Lady Dragons of Jefferson saw their string of region wins snapped by North Oconee last week, but still kept their run of wins over Commerce alive on Friday to split their last two games.

Next up for Jefferson is a trip to Oglethorpe County on Friday to face the Lady Patriots.

Jefferson was the winner of the last meeting of the two teams back on January 16, when they won 65-18.

There’s no doubt about it, the Jefferson Lady Dragons are on a roll.

The team went three for three last week, defeating Banks County, East Jackson and Union County, and are undefeated in region play.

Next up is a non-region pairing, but one that still carries a lot of weight, as the Lady Dragons will travel to Commerce to face their arch rivals, the Lady Tigers, on Friday. [Full Story »]

Any weekend that you can finish second to the best team in Georgia, it’s a good weekend.

That’s the way that the Jefferson Mat Dragons are looking at Saturday’s performance in the Sham Slam at Habersham Central High School, where they placed second to Collins Hill, a team that is nationally ranked and has four team members that are nationally ranked.

Collins Hill took top honors with 335 points, while Jefferson finished with 211. Lafayette placed third with 192 points, followed by Northwest Whitfield and Woodland. [Full Story »]

Dragons travel to Commerce to face the Tigers Friday

It was an important week for the Jefferson Dragons as the team added two sub-region wins to its tally to go 3-0, as well as the top spot in sub-region standings. Add to that the avenging of a hard loss to Union County from December and a six-game winning streak put the Dragons on a roll.

Up next is a trip to Commerce to face the archrival Tigers on Friday. The Tigers will be looking to break a 10 game winning streak by the Dragons that dates back to January 2005. [Full Story »]
