With their league schedules complete, Winder-Barrow High School and Apalachee High School met on the tennis courts for the second time this season last Thursday as both teams prepared for the Region 8-AAAAA tournament.
After prevailing 4-1 in the Battle of Barrow on March 14, the AHS boys once again topped their cross-county rivals in a 3-2 win which did not count in the region standings.
The Wildcats have been powered all season by a strong singles line up, and that was the case again as Chandler Hagan, Eli Hagan and Christian Perez all posted wins. Chandler Hagan bested Gable Peacock 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Eli Hagan topped Xavier Daniel 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Perez completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Brad Hagin at No. 3.
Led by the No. 1 team of Jacob Lyle and Bailey Brock, the Net Doggs bedrock has been solid doubles play. Lyle and Brock, who finished the region schedule undefeated, improved to 13-1 overall with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Trey and Davis Hayes.
