The stiffling summer Georgia heat indicates anything but fall, but, believe it or not, a new high school football season is just around the corner — literally.
While high school action on the gridiron is most associated with fall, we will be several weeks into the new season before the weather resembles anything fall-like. In fact, there have been football campaigns locally where the cool nights have not arrived until after the season is complete.
Regardless, Aug. 12, is the target date for high school football beginning once again in Barrow County. The Bethlehem Christian Academy Knights will get the 2016 football party started when they kick things off on that date. Yes, that contest will be one that counts in the standings for BCA.
The Winder-Barrow High School Bulldoggs will not be far behind as they begin a new season the following Friday against Clarke Central High School on the road as the two former region foes will continue to lock horns.
