Commerce 10-U Team Out Of State Tourney

Two Commerce Park and Rec 10-under baseball All-Stars spent their holiday weekend slugging it out with teams from around the state in the 2008 Dizzy Dean State tournament.

They were eliminated on Sunday with a close 7-6 loss to the Kennesaw Blaze. [Full Story »] 

Sea Dragons prepare for GRPA District Meet in Habersham

The Jefferson Recreation Sea Dragons swim team has only one more meet before the GRPA District Meet on Saturday. This Thursday, the team will be in Commerce taking on the Tiger Sharks. The district meet is in Habersham County at the Clarkesville Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center, Saturday, July 12.

The Sea Dragons competed in the Dacula Invitational on June 21. The invitational was open to the 12 teams of the North Georgia Swim League.

The team had a number of top five finishers at the invitational.

Jackson County vs Jefferson in Dizzy Dean

Jackson County Parks and Rec faced off against Jefferson Parks and Rec this past week in the Dizzy Dean baseball tournament.

The Dizzy Dean District 6 tournament attracts a lot of attention from area park and rec departments. With many different age groups competing in the tournament, both local rec departments have had a number of teams play well.

Tigersharks Perform Well At Dacula

The Commerce Tigersharks had a successful outing on Saturday, as 21 swimmers traveled to Gwinnett County for the Dacula Invitational.

Local racer qualifies for national championships

Paul Nelson, Hoschton, has qualified for the 27th annual Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, the largest amateur motocross race in the world.

Nelson, age 14, competed against 20,000 hopefuls from across America to earn one of just 1386 qualifying positions.

The Jefferson Sea Dragons have been showing spirit at the past few swim meets.

At the June 14 NGSL Pentathlon in Winder, only the best swimmers participated.
