Commerce Travels To East Jackson March 17

Commerce opened its boys’ track and field season last Thursday in a three-team meet in Jefferson with the Dragons and Banks County.

The Tigers finished second, scoring 51 points to Jefferson’s 87, while Banks County finished a distant third with 13 points. [Full Story »]

The East Jackson baseball Eagles find themselves in the midst of a four-game losing streak after falling to Hart County, Oglethorpe and North Oconee last week.

The Eagles are hoping for a little hometown magic this week, as they host Jefferson today (Wednesday) at 5:55 p.m.

The Dragons have had a bumpy start to their season as well, going 2-2 overall and 1-1 in region play. They enter the week fresh off a 7-0 win over the Oglethorpe County Patriots, however. [Full Story »]

The results were mixed for the Commerce golf teams as they faced Jackson County at Traditions last Thursday.

The girls came away with a win, 109-111. Haley Chestnut, Emmie Burley and Rebekah Lang led the way for the Lady Tigers victory.

Things didn’t go quite as well for the boys, as they fell to the Panthers 170-222. [Full Story »]

Tigers Fall To Eagles At State

The Commerce Tiger basketball team saw its season come to a close Saturday in the second round of state playoff action at the hands of North Cobb Christian, 71-63.

The Tigers closed their season with a 12-2 region record, and a 20-7 mark overall.

To get to the second round, the Tigers first beat the Landmark Christian School War Eagles on Tuesday, Feb. 22, in the opening round of the tournament. [Full Story »]

It was a split result for East Jackson last week, as both the boys’ and girls’ teams fell to Madison County but both rebounded to defeat Jefferson.

East Jackson returns to action on Thursday as they host Apalachee. The girls’ contest starts at 5:30, with the boys’ game to follow at 7:30.

The East Jackson Eagles opened their season on a high note, picking up a 3-2 victory over Jackson County Thursday.

Tsim Nuy Ly won for East Jackson at number one singles while Tony Johnson won at number and Sherying Ly prevailed at number three singles.

Tigers Take Second At State Duals

The Commerce Tigers closed out a successful season by winning second place in the state duals tournament in Bremen over the weekend.

Commerce started its march to the finals with a 57-19 victory over Mt. Zion followed by a 37-33 victory over Gordon Lee that sent the Tigers to the final round.

The Commerce Tigers got their season off to a strong start, picking up their first win against the Jefferson Dragons in recent memory.

The Tigers return home Friday for their region opener, hosting Riverside Military Academy.

The Eagles come to Commerce on an early season slide, having dropped games to Flowery Branch and Dawson County last week. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The East Jackson Eagles opened their 2011 season with a victory over Cedar Shoals last week.

The Eagles will host region foe Hart County this (Wednesday) afternoon.

The Bulldogs come to town with an early 1-2 record, having won their opener over Franklin County before falling to Stephens County and Madison County last week. The game begins at 5:55. [Full Story »]
