After taking an early lead, the East Jackson Eagles saw a chance for their third region victory of the season slip away as Hart County surged back to win 21-14 Friday night.

A final win sent the East Jackson Lady Eagles to the postseason, but two quick losses brought the season to its conclusion.

The Lady Eagles wrapped up their regular season last week with a 1-0 win over Jackson County.

After falling to Prince Avenue Christian last week, the Commerce Lady Tigers hope to end their regular season on a high note this week.

On Wednesday, the 3-7 Lady Tigers will close the regular season with a pairing against region foe Social Circle.

The East Jackson Lady volleyball Eagles hope to rebound this week as their regular season comes to an end. They’re coming off losses to Lakeview, Tallulah Falls and Gainesville.

The Lady Eagles are 3-7 in the area going into this week, when they’ll wrap up regular season play with a trip to Jefferson to face the Lady Dragons and non-area opponent Hebron Christian Academy on Thursday.

Jefferson enters the week undefeated in the area, while Hebron carries a 30-5 overall record into Thursday night. [Full Story »]

The East Jackson Lady Eagles hope to end their softball season on a high note.

A forfeit by Hart County in a game slated for Sept. 30 meant East Jackson’s regular season was slated to end on Tuesday against Jackson County. A win would send the Lady Eagles into the playoffs.

“They’re a solid team,” said coach Jason Rainey. “They’ve got good coaching and good pitching. We played them very well last time, so I think our girls have confidence and have gained confidence. It will be a good rivalry. Everybody’s friends between our two teams. It should be a good game.” [Full Story »]

Commerce Faces A.C. Eagles In Region Opener

After a Friday night off, the Commerce Tigers will get back on the gridiron Friday night to start the region schedule. They’ll travel to Athens Christian to take on the Eagles in the region opener.

Eagles Host Hart Co. Friday

The East Jackson Eagles picked up their second region win of the year Friday night, downing Oglethorpe County 39-12 on the road.

What started out looking like a good weekend that included four victories ended with a loss bigger than a single game for the Commerce Lady Tigers, as Kayla Burks is out for the remainder of the season due to injury.

The Lady Tigers have a little time to regroup, as their next game is slated for 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at home against George Walton Academy.

Mark it down as another strong week for the East Jackson cross country teams, as they swept a meet in Madison County, then placed fourth and ninth in Conyers over the weekend.

They’ll travel to Lexington Saturday for the Oglethorpe Invitational.

Both the boys’ and girls’ teams came away with wins Tuesday, topping Madison County and Commerce in the process. [Full Story »]

The East Jackson Lady Eagles are looking for a chance to turn their luck around after dropping their third straight game last week, 4-3, to Oglethorpe County.

The Lady Eagles will face Madison County today (Wednesday) in Danielsville. The Red Raiders enter the week with a six-game winning streak, going 6-2 in 8-AAAA and 22-3 overall.

“They’re second-ranked in AAAA,” said coach Jason Rainey. “I know their coach. They’re really good. It’s almost a top classification. They might be the best team we play all year.” [Full Story »]
