Bulldogs gain mat experience at area

WBHS opened the tournament against Salem and dropped a close 42-39 decision.

“We lost a couple of matches we could have won,” Horne said. “If we could have won that match we would have faced Loganville.”

Instead, the Mat Bulldoggs then faced Clarke Central and fell 43-36 which ended the tournament for WBHS.

“We had wrestled Clarke earlier in the week and we showed a marked improvement when we wrestled them Friday,” Horne said.”

The Mat Bulldoggs were scheduled to compete at Dawson County Tuesday along with Johnson High School.

Practice will resume later this week as WBHS continues in its quest to improve for the traditional area duals to be held at Loganville High School.

Leading wrestlers for the WBHS Mat Bulldoggs this past week included Ryan Conner (2-0 with two pins), Zach Gutierez (2-0 with one pin) and Will Whisenant (4-0 with three pins.)
