JHS defeats Sevier Co. to start tourney

The Jefferson Dragons made a good start on their efforts in the Warrior Holiday Classic on Saturday, as they picked up a win over the Smokey Bears of Sevier Co., Tenn., 61-56.

With the win the Dragons were slated to face Oconee County Monday night, with the winner moving on to the championship game on Tuesday.

Results were unavailable at press time.

Darius Minor led the Dragons in scoring with 27 points, and had 11 rebounds. Tab Martin scored 11 points against Sevier County.

Following the tournament, the Dragons will have some time off before hitting the court again on Jan. 6, when they’ll play host to Fannin County.

Tip-off in that game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
