Mat Dragons take Smokey Mtn. Duals

The Jefferson Mat Dragons picked up a big win in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., as they defeated defending champ LaFayette to win the Smokey Mountain Duals last week 35-28 in the championship match.

Jefferson took control of the match early, moving out to a 29-3 win, then continued on for the win.

Winners for Jefferson in the championship match included Isaac Kelley in the 103 lb. class; Jason Thurmond in the 112 lb. category; Cutler Finch in the 130 lb. category; Cam Thurmond in the 135 lb. category; Jay Fowler in the 160 lb. category; Zach Allen in the 189 lb category; Patrick Allen in the 215 lb. category; and Cole Hightower in the heavyweight category.

The Mat Dragons now get a few days off before returning to action this weekend. They’ll be traveling to Chattahoochee High School in Alpharetta for the Chattahoochee Invitational beginning on Friday, and running through Saturday.
