EJCHS to face North Hall at Philips Arena

The Trojans will be looking to add to their win record on the trip. As of Tuesday, North Hall was 4-2 overall, and preparing for their first region pairing.

Tip-off on Dec. 23 at Philips Arena is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

East Jackson started off their region play for the season with a victory on Dec. 9, but it wasn’t a win that came easily for the Eagles.

Riverside came out tough, and led 28-23 going into the half.

But the Eagles’ pressure started to wear on Riverside, and East Jackson outscored them 32 to 18 in the second half to take a 55-46 win.

Brandon Garrett scored 16 points on the game, while Kolby Gilbert had 15 and Standrick Stephens had 13.

“Their height was giving us come trouble (in the first half),” said coach Brian Turner.

Up next was a home stand against the Tigers of Washington Wilkes. From the start, it was an athletic game, with both teams swapping the lead. The Eagles trailed 13-8 at the end of the first quarter, but came back to take the lead 29-25 at the half. The game remained close through the third quarter, but in the fourth, East Jackson stretched out a 15-point lead. A last push by the Tigers cut that lead to six points, but some late Eagle free throws
gave East Jackson some cushion, and they came away with a 65-54 victory.

Garrett led in scoring against Washington-Wilkes with 23 points, while Stephens had 15 and Gilbert had 10.
