Panthers host West Hall Friday

On paper, the picture doesn’t get much brighter. So far this season, the Spartans have scored 597 points against their opponents, while Jackson County has scored 286. But the Panthers do show an edge in points allowed, letting only 378 get past while the Spartans have allowed 490 points scored against them.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

Last week got off to rough start for the Panthers, as they opened up their region schedule at Elbert County. It was a close game early, with the Blue Devils holding a slim one point lead at the end of the first quarter, 11-10.

The Panthers stayed in the fight through the second quarter, keeping within six points by the half.

But the wheels came off in the second half of the game, with Elbert County taking advantage of a flat performance to put away a 70-40 victory.

Joseph Smith led in scoring for the Panthers with 21 points, while Nick Oney scored 10 and Alex Crawford recorded nine.

Things didn’t get any better for the Panthers on Friday night, as they lost 55-37 to Morgan County at home.

Joseph Smith led in scoring against Morgan County with seven points, while Jonathan Baxter, Crawford and Juice Harrison each had six. Oney scored five.
