It’s been a good start to the season for the Mat Eagles of East Jackson.
First, they placed second to Dacula in the Westside Rumble Tournament on Nov. 21, scoring 185.5 points to Dacula’s 220.
Individual results included Garret Lott placing second in the 103 lb. class; Justin Griffith placed second in the 119 lb. class; Zack Venable placed third in the 125 lb. category; Shane Moore placed second in the 135 lb. class; Luke Ruoff took second in the 145 lb. class; Luis Verduzco placed second in the 152 lb. class; Drew Hunter placed second in the 160 lb. category; Robbie King placed second in the 171 lb class; Al Booker took fourth in the 171 lb. class; Scott Hill placed first in the 189 lb. class; and Tyler Yearwood placed fourth in the heavyweight class.
The Eagles then went on to defeat Westside Augusta and Greater Atlanta Christian Saturday in the Eagle Classic Dual Tournament. East Jackson outscored Westside 60-12, and Greater Atlanta Christian 42-34.
Charles Huelet, went 1-1 in the meet; Justin Griffith went 2-0; Zak Venable went 1-0; Shane Moore went 1-1; Kevin Keasler went 2-0; Michael Nally went 2-0; Luis Verduzco went 2-0; Drew Hunter went 0-2; Robbie King went 2-0; Scott Hill went 2-0; Parker Wilson went 1-1; and Edward Salas went 0-2.
East Jackson was scheduled to host Dawson and Morgan County on Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time.
