Commerce Looking For A Win Fri. At Tallulah Falls

Coach Chad Bridges said that Friday’s game is important since it is a region competition.

“Tallulah Falls has not played well yet, but we haven’t played well yet [either],” said Bridges. “It should be a winnable game, and hopefully we will manage to win our first region win.”

Tallulah Falls dropped its first three games against Dawson County, Jackson County and Banks County.

Bridges said the Tigers have to step up the aggression level defensively and increase their patience offensively to win games this season. To that end, Bridges and his staff have turned the intensity up during practices.

“[We have been] making the drills move quicker,” Bridges said, “making [the team] work harder in areas and game-like situations.”

The coach is stressing repetition during practice. Bridges said that through repetition, the boys are going to learn what constitutes a good shot or a bad shot.

After Tallulah Falls, Commerce faces Jefferson and region opponent Hebron Christian.

However, before jumping ahead, the Commerce Tigers have to get past Tallulah Falls on Friday.

Last season, the teams each won their home game, but dropped the road competition. The Tigers are hoping they can break that trend this Friday at Tallulah. Bridges said it is always hard to play after riding the bus.

He hopes that some film from the Indians’ game at Jackson County will help to prepare Commerce for the game. A win would give the Tigers some confidence as they face the rest of the region schedule.
