Dragons host Hart County Friday

What a difference a few days makes.

After a hard start to the season, falling to Heritage in the opening game of the Tabo’s Tip-Off Tournament, the Jefferson Dragons boys basketball team fought back to win their next two games, and finish fifth overall in tournament play.

The Dragons now look ahead to their next match up, as they’ll play host to Hart County Friday night.

Both teams enter Friday night’s game with a 2-1 overall record. The Bulldogs have scored 193 points so far this season, while Jefferson has put 133 points on the board.

In their last two meetings, Hart County has come away the victor, winning in January of 2008 and in December of 2007. Jefferson defeated the Bulldogs back in January of 2007, and wants to even the score on Friday.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Jefferson began their drive for victory on Nov. 25 against Oconee County. After being down most of the first quarter, ending 15-12, the Dragons fought back, and led the contest 29-21 at the half. From there on, Jefferson controlled the lead, and ended up winning 54-43.

Greg Hayes led the Dragons in scoring against Oconee with 11 points, also recording 10 rebounds. Tyler Bailey scored 10 points on the night.
