Panthers fall to Spartans on the road

The Panthers worked hard to stand up to an athletic Spartan team, fighting back during the first period to tie the game, and to move ahead at one point. But West Hall turned up the heat in the second quarter, and by the half, the Panthers trailed by 25 points, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Joseph Smith scored 34 points, going 21 of 23 from the free throw line. Juice Harrison scored 14 points and had eight rebounds, while Will Wolter scored eight points on the game.

The Panthers turned the ball over 26 times during the game.

“We can’t do that and compete in games,” said Beaver.

The Panthers also shot 73 percent from the free throw line.

“West Hall’s players are as athletic as anything we will see this year and they brought a lot of pressure and shot the ball extremely well,” Beaver said. “It was good to face all of these factors early to better prepare us for our region games.

“I was very proud of the kids as they never quit and played hard until the end.”

The Panthers were next scheduled to host the Thanksgiving Tip-off Tournament, beginning on Monday. Results were unavailable at press time.
