Mat Eagles Ready For Next Challenge

After a strong finish to last year’s season, the East Jackson Eagles wrestling team looks to build on last year for a successful 2008-09 showing.

East Jackson wrapped up its inaugural season with a 19th place finish out of 55 teams in state competition, with two of the five qualifiers placing.

The Eagles lost three seniors from last year, but retained a strong core group for this year, as well as gaining several young wrestlers.

There were 12 regulars slated to be back this year as the team moves into its second season.

The Eagles’ first meet will come on the road, as they take part in a dual meet with West Forsyth and Cherokee on Nov. 26. Next, they’ll host a dual meet with Flowery Branch on Dec. 2 before playing host to the Eagle Classic dual tournament on Dec. 6.
