After an inaugural season that saw them off on the right foot, the East Jackson Eagles’ boys basketball team is gearing up for their second season of play, which is set to start by hosting a pre-season tournament on Saturday.
Last year, the Eagles went 18-10 overall, and 7-4 in the region.
Coach Brian Turner says it’s great to begin this season without having to start from scratch like they did in 2007.
“With the transition of starting a new school over, the kids pick up things a little quicker and better than last season,” he said. “We still have a lot of inexperience at some positions but the learning curve should come much quicker than last year.”

I am confused how the Eagles can say that they "started from scratch" last season when what they did is take every returning player, every senior from Jackson County High School and move them to East Jackson High School. The Jackson County Panther basketball team started from scratch and stayed in a tough AAAA region. East took all the seniors and dropped to the cupcake 8AA region. Nice spin though--but the county ain't buying it.
