Both Winder-Barrow High School and Apalachee High School received strong pitching performances Tuesday, but the Lady Bulldoggs benefited from some defensive miscues by the Lady Wildcats to take a 6-0 win.
Cathleen Nugue went the distance for WBHS (4-3) throwing 93 pitches while allowing four hits and three walks with two strikeouts. AHS counterpart Sara Henson was also effective going all seven innings for the Lady Wildcats throwing 95 pitches with five strikeouts. Henson allowed four hits and two walks but all six runs were unearned.
“I was proud of our pitching and defense,” said WBHS coach Monty McClure after the game. “Anytime you win a game against a rival, it’s nice. However, it will be a completely different game the next time we play.”
