Both East Jackson cross country teams performed well enough to reach the elite eight teams last weekend at state competition in Carrollton.
The girls finished seventh out of 35 schools, while the boys finished eighth of 35 schools.
Sherri Blalock finished third out of 82 runners with a national elite time of 19:55, setting a new school record for East Jackson. Blalock also made the All-State team.
