Players compete in athletics for a variety of reasons, but one is to play for and win championships.
The 2014 Bethlehem Christian Academy baseball team now knows about winning and capped the season with a state championship for GISA Class A. The Knights rallied to win two games in a best-of-three series against Crisp Academy last weekend and did so on the road in a hostile environment.
“It’s a great feeling,” said BCA’s Jacob Walls, who joined the program this school year. “It’s really exciting. At first I was nervous even though I tried to treat the series like any other game. In the first game, however, I think the magnitude of the situation weighed on myself and some of the younger players.”
Wall’s teammate, Jacob Fincher, one of the players who was part of the state championship from last season as well, said the second time earning the trophy was just as exciting.
