The Barrow County 4-H archery team recently attended the State 4-H SAFE Archery Tournament at Rock Eagle 4-H Center May 3 and came home with multiple awards.
Barrow County had 40 youth attend the competition in multiple categories; Cloverleaf Novice, Cloverleaf Recurve, Cloverleaf Compound, Junior Recurve, Junior Compound, Senior Recurve and Senior Compound. The youth competed in teams and were also scored on an individual basis. The State competition was attended by nearly 800 youth from 40 counties across Georgia.
The Barrow youth did not disappoint either during the grueling competition, in the Cloverleaf Novice category, a team made up of shooters Joshua Griggs, Nicholas Griggs, Stone Hollingsworth and Savannah Phillips took home second place with a combined score of 727 and Stone Hollingsworth had the added distinction of placing second in Novice Individual. Mikah Brown, Eric Howington, Katherine Carlsrud, and Hannah Stepp took third place in the Junior Recurve Team competition with a combined score of 536.
