THE JEFFERSON boys' track and field team boasted a state champion and two-runners up during the Thursday session of the boys' state track meet at Memorial Stadium in Jefferson.
Jefferson stands in second place in Class AA after seven events scored with 32 points, behind only Westminster (35.5)
Hamrick vaulted 15 feet to win the Class AA pole vault and close his high school career with his third state title. Hamrick joins Tyler Porter and Chris Keen as three-time pole vault state champions at Jefferson. Porter won the pole vault in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Keen won in 1986, 1987 and 1988. Hamrick won in 2011, 2013 and now 2014.
The Dragons actually finished 1-2 in the pole vault as James Howard took second with a vault of 14-00 to close his high school career as well.
Jefferson's other runner-up Thursday was Satchel Turpin, who took second in the Class AA triple jump, covering a distance of 45-01.5.

•Turpin, second, triple jump (45-01.5); seventh, high jump (6-02); 13th, long jump (20-00).
•Max Higgins, 10th, 1600-meter run (4:45.81).
•Dalton Hill, 10th, long jump (20-03).
•Ethan Hix, fifth, discus (136-09); ninth, shot put (44-04).
Qualifying for running events are scheduled for today, as well as the 3,200-meter finals.
