Fill in driver Grant Entfinger, piloting the car normally driven by Watkinsville racer John Wes Townley, put his fill-in position to good use Saturday, as he put the #09 Ford on the pole with a time of 17.817 around Peach State Speedway in Jefferson.
Unfortunatly, Entfinger, winner of the Rattler 250 in Alabama earlier this year, will have to give up that fast seat. Townley, who spent Friday and Saturday racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series and the Nationwide Series in Phoenix Arizona, is schedulled to fly back to Georgia tonight to race in Saturday's World Crown.
Regardless of the speed, the driver change will mean Townley will have to start at the back of the field on Saturday.
Three time World Crown winner Paul Kelley held the provisional pole for a time Saturday, turning a lap in 17. He was third fastest at the end of qualifying.
The World Crown 300 is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Peach State Speedway. For more information, go to www.peachstspeedway.com.
