JEFFERSON’S Elizabeth McMullan will compete at the state gymnastics meet today (Friday) at Westminster after finishing seventh overall in the all-around at last Friday’s qualifier.
Warm-ups begin at 4 p.m. and the competition starts at 7 p.m.
McMullan will have a chance to place in the all-around as well as on the vault and beam. She finished eighth and fifth respectively in those events at the qualifier.
“These girls work hard all year to shine at state; it is always an awesome display of athleticism to watch,” Jefferson High School gym coach Lori Alexander said. “The girls are all so encouraging to one another.
At the qualifier, McMullan scored a 9.375 on the vault, 9.25 on the beam, 9.15 on the floor exercises (finishing 13th) and 8.9 on the bars (finishing 16th). Her all-round score was 36.675.
