The Dragon track and field team won two championships in three days.
Competing against a field that included three Class AAAAAA schools and one of the better squads in Class AA, Jefferson came away with a first-place finish in the nine-team Beef O’Brady Dragon Invitational Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
This came after winning the boys’ county championship on Thursday.
Jefferson finished with 144 points to finish 18 points ahead of second-place Newton (126), a Class AAAAAA school.
Rounding out the top five were Class AA Lamar County (112), Class AAAAAA Mill Creek (104) and Class AAAAAA Collins Hill (68).
Mason Hamrick enjoyed the highest finish for the Dragons, taking first in the pole vault with a vault of 14-6. Satchel Turpin jumped 6-6 in the high jump, tying a school record and finishing second in that event.

•Dalton Hill, third, long jump (20-10).
•Ethan Hix, second, discus (134-11).
The Jefferson girls finished as runners up with 129.5 points. Mill Creek won the event with 169 points. Collins Hill was third with 122 points. A pair of Class A schools, Commerce (92) and Athens Academy (80.5) rounded out the top five.
Camille Porter enjoyed the top finish for the Lady Dragons, placing first in the 800 meters (2:31.94).
