The East Jackson Comprehensive High School track and field team competed in two meets last week.
Saturday, the Eagles traveled to Greater Atlanta Christian school to compete with 11 area schools at the GACS Invitational.
Several East Jackson boys earned top-three finishes in their respective events, leading the Eagles to a sixth place finish.
Chase Kennedy took first place in the boys’ 1600-meter run with a time of 4:55.41, while Chandler Kennedy finished second (4:58.37). Noah Hulett finished third in the boys’ 3200-meter run. Austin Beauchamp earned a first-place finish in the boys’ discus with a throw at 144-04.5. Justin Akin finished third in the boys’ shot put event with a throw of 39-06, while Tyree Rakestraw finished fourth in the boys’ triple jump with a leap of 38-04.25.
Arianna Summers took first place in the girls’ pole vault with a vault of 7-06, leading the Lady Eagles to a sixth-place finish out of the twelve competing teams.
On Tuesday, March 11, the Eagle teams traveled to Oglethorpe County for a quad meet with the Patriots, Elbert County and Prince Avenue Christian.
The East Jackson girls finished first (58 points), edging Elbert County (57) by one point.
The Eagle boys’ team finished in fourth with a score of 36 points.
